Seminars and Field Trips

This course is provided as a means for 5th year students to get a chance to experience and learn some insights on the current trends and technologies in the industry. The students are required to attend seminars by industry professionals and participate in tours to the different companies that are relevant to the computer engineering industry.

Students must fulfill the following requirements to complete the course:
A.) Attend at least 5 seminars.
B.) Participate in at least 5 company tours.
C.) Submit a reaction paper for each seminar or tour attended.

Reaction Paper
Reaction papers must be at least 250 words long.
You will talk about:
A.) Description about what the seminar was all about, or what the company is about.
B.) Who is the speaker/tour guide, their background, or role in the company.
B.) What is the seminar's/company's significance to computer engineering.
C.) Your own personal thoughts, experience, opinions on the topic.

For seminars, pls. provide a copy of a certificate of participation if available.
For company tours, pls. provide pictures of the tour. At least one picture should include you in it.
* Some companies do not allow picture taking inside the premises. Please respect their policies and just take your pictures outside or in areas where picture taking is allowed.

Submission of Reaction Papers
For environmental and economical reasons, submission of papers will be done through this forum. No paper submissions will be accepted.

* After each seminar or tour, a thread will be created in the Workshop forum for that particular event.
* Your reaction papers will be submitted as posts in their relevant thread.
* Reactions submitted in the wrong thread will not be credited, so please make sure you are posting in the correct thread.
* Include your real name and group schedule in the beginning of your post.
* For seminar certificates and tour pictures, please embed them in your post or include them as an attachment.
* Reactions must be submitted within 2 weeks of the date of the event. After the 2 week time period, the thread for that event will be closed and posts will no longer be allowed. Your attendance to the event will be considered void.

For clarifications or further inquiries, please bring it up in this thread.

For those who attended the Manila tour last summer, you may submit a reaction paper of your tour. The length of your paper must be worth the length of at least 2 reaction papers.

This will be credited worth 2 tours.
